Fair comparison

A wallet is for supported credentials. Panza is for the rest.

Google Wallet handles supported passes, IDs, insurance cards, tickets, keys, and payments. Panza is built around the source documents and details that sit outside that system.

Google Wallet already covers more than payments

It can hold supported boarding passes, tickets, loyalty cards, keys, IDs, insurance cards, and other wallet items alongside payment methods.

That makes it genuinely useful — and it also makes the boundary clearer.

Google Wallet works when the item has a supported wallet form.

Panza does not wait for a wallet format

Most important documents do not arrive as passes.

They arrive as PDFs, photos, scans, email attachments, or paper.

Panza starts there. Add the document, pull the useful details forward, and keep the source attached.

IDs are a good example of the difference

Google Wallet supports digital ID experiences in specific regions and scenarios. Those are native credentials with their own rules and acceptance requirements.

Panza is not trying to turn a passport copy into an official digital ID. It is there when you need the passport number, expiry date, or the original reference copy close at hand.

Use the native wallet where it exists

If your insurance card, ticket, key, or ID is supported by Google Wallet, use the native experience.

Then use Panza for the documents around it: the full policy, registration, passport copy, warranty, or anything else that still lives as a document.

Questions you were going to ask anyway

Does Panza replace Google Wallet?

No. If you have a supported payment card, pass, ID, ticket, key, or insurance card, Google Wallet is built for that experience. Panza is useful for the wider document set around those items.

Can I keep passport information in Google Wallet?

Google offers ID pass features based on passports in supported regions, but Google states that an ID pass is not a replacement for physical identification and may not be universally accepted.
